Alpha-Cat: The Ultimate Cannabinoid Analysis Tool for Cannabis Enthusiasts
Discover the power of Alpha-cat, a groundbreaking cannabinoid analysis tool that combines thin-layer chromatography (TLC) with specific thin-layers and developing fluid. This innovative method provides a highly specific colouring reaction that represents the cannabinoids present in your cannabis sample, allowing you to detect and identify six main cannabinoids with ease.
Alpha-Cat's Breakthrough in Cannabis Analysis
Alpha-cat's method enables you to analyze the following cannabinoids:
- Cannabidiol (CBD)
- Cannabinol (CBN)
- Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
- Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)
- Cannabigerol (CBG)
- Cannabichromene (CBC)
With just 0.1 gram of material per sample, Alpha-cat allows you to examine the cannabinoid profile in various mixtures such as plant parts, trichome resins, oils, tinctures, and even edibles like ice-creams, cookies, and teas.
Understanding the Effects of Your Cannabis Strains
Alpha-cat equips you with valuable information to assess the effects of a specific strain, including:
- A THC and CBD reference chart for an indication of strength and potency
- Chemotype/cannabinoid profile to categorize the strain
- Chemotype-effect chart indicating the expected pharmacological effect
- A symptom-cure guide to help determine the best strain for alleviating specific symptoms
Sativa Strains
THC effects are dominant over indica effects, resulting in an activating and energizing experience.
Indica Strains
CBG, THCV, and CBD effects predominate, producing a feeling of relaxation, often described as "stoney" or "sleepy."
Alpha-Cat Test Kits: Choose the Right One for You
Alpha-cat offers various test kit options, each designed to meet your unique needs:
MINI Kit Alpha-cat (2 plates)
- THC & CBD analysis: 8 tests
- Chemotype prints: 2 tests
REGULAR Kit Alpha-cat (10 plates)
- THC & CBD analysis: 40 tests
- Chemotype prints: 10 tests
*Note: Each TLC plate allows for testing 4 lanes. A full analysis uses all 4 lanes for 1 strain. To get a chemotype print of your strain, 1 line is sufficient; 4 strains can be analyzed on 1 TLC plate.
How to Analyze the Results
After colouring the TLC plate by dipping it in a dye solution, coloured spots will appear immediately. The number of spots depends on the plant's genetics and environmental parameters during cultivation. The bigger the spot is, the higher the concentration. The combination of different spots is called the chemotype of this particular plant (strain). Samples derived from it, such as the dried flowers, edibles, oils, and hashish, will differ somewhat in composition and won't show the same cannabinoid profile (or print). Each coloured spot on the plate represents a cannabinoid.
Safety Recommendations
Alpha-cat® Test Kits comply with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Codex Alimentarius, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines. However, some components in the kits are hazardous, so always follow safety precautions, including handling with care, wearing gloves, avoiding contamination of the TLC-plates, and not inhaling the substances. Make sure to read the manual carefully before conducting experiments and contact us if you have any questions.
